poppy’s journal notes: A safari adventure

safari day one

Yesterday we woke up at two in the morning and drove to the airport and got on a two hour flight to Johannesburg South Africa and took another five hour flight to Nairobi Kenya and stayed in a hotel for one night. At the hotel we went in a really warm pool and went out to dinner in the hotel. And then today we got on a really small plane to Maasai Mara and took a safari jeep to our camp site and on the ride we saw zebras really closeup, wildebeests, I think springboks, warthogs, and giraffes and tonight we are going to go on another game drive.

safari day six

Okay so on our last day at Maasai Mara camp we woke up had breakfast and went on a game drive to our next camp called Porini Lion camp and went on a late night game drive that night. The next morning we just went on a game drive and relaxed and read in the afternoon. But the next morning is when it got more interesting, we woke up at like four am and got in a car to go to a hot air balloon place, once we got there we had to wait for a long time while a man told us what to do, finally we got in the hot air balloon but it wasn’t what anyone was thinking it would be like the basket was on its side, there was four compartments in the basket (we were on the top) and we had to climb in so that there were handles in front of us and we were on our backs facing up while the balloon inflated, and once we were in the air we could see elephants, hippos and warthogs.

After we got off the balloon and it was still deflating we actually got to go inside the balloon on our way to breakfast (which they also serve) we saw a lion eating a hippo! that night mom stayed back at the tent while dad lucy and I went on a evening drive where we also saw another lion but this time it was eating a giraffe. The next morning we got up early and went for a morning drive and packed for Dubai because the next morning we were leaving kenya.
